Description
How it works: There are three separate mazes around the circumference of the tower. The goal is to work each of the three pins in the ring through the three mazes simultaneously to remove or replace the ring on the tower. This is done by tilting and twisting the ring as required to work around the various partitions in each maze. No force is needed to successfully work the ring off or on.
Story behind the puzzle: Mazes are a common theme among my puzzles, although I don’t remember exactly when this variation came to mind. I always struggled with how to build it out of wood. I even bought some craft sticks and a large dowel, but was never satisfied I could cut all of those arcs and glue everything together successfully. As a result, the 3D printer was a God-send for making my first prototype. I also thought getting the right dimensions on the pins in the ring was going to be far more complicated than it turned out.
I actually have a second variation of this puzzle with a completely different solution. If there were enough requests, I could introduce “Triple Trouble II” as a new option on my site…
